IS DKT WAVE2 WIFI MESH AN EXTENDER?
Yes, it is an extender, however… while a regular extender can be used to enhance the range of a Wi-Fi network, it suffers from the same restrictions as a ”Wave1” based router, and it can drastically reduce speed on your network. A regular extender can also cause the ”sticky client” problem, where you remain stuck on the extender’s connection, even though you are closer in proximity to a better access point. This happens because your router and extender cannot communicate with each other, and do not “negotiate” for which access point (router or extender) gives the best connection.
DKT WAVE2 Wi-Fi Mesh operates differently than the ordinary extender, and is far more intelligent. With it you are always connected to the access point that provides you with the best signal, or is the least loaded. If you want to increase the range of your wireless network, then simply place a new DKT WAVE2 unit where you want better coverage, and connect it to your other DKT WAVE2 Wi-Fi Mesh units / Access Points (APs). “MU-MIMO”, “beamforming” and “SON” ensure that Wave 2 WiFi can solve the issues of bad WiFi far more effectively than has been possible with previous WiFi equipment.
WHAT IS MU-MIMO?
MU-MIMO is an innovative breakthrough in the Wave2 WiFi standard, which makes it possible to have simultaneous communication with several units. This improves the total speed of the connection, and also makes multi-tasking possible on a network.
MU-MIMO will share the entire Wi-Fi spectrum that is available across multiple ”units”. This optimizes the efficiency of the Wi-Fi network while also simultaneously servicing more client units. Comparing this with the current SU-MIMO (Single User MIMO), where the network services one client at a time, and based upon the type of client, the Wi-Fi spectrum will either be completely used or part of the network will be idle, because the client is not using the entire spectrum and the technology cannot share the remaining spectrum with other clients. HVAD BETYDER BEAMFORMING?
”Beamforming” technology is a part of the Wave2 Wi-Fi standard that optimizes the effect of the signal. Wi-Fi without beamforming sends the signal out in ”circles”, centered around the router / extender. This incurs a lot of ”lost” signal. Beamforming technology on the other hand registers the position of clients connected to the network and focusses the Wi-Fi signal directly to the client. This improves the signal speed and the network range.
WHAT IS SON?
Our units use the Qualcomm’s Self Organizing Network (SON) technology. It allows for connecting several Wi-Fi units in a mesh structure via a self-configuring, self-managing, self-healing and self-protecting network. This creates a robust and secure wireless network with high user-friendliness, where your Wi-Fi units continuously ensure that the connection is stable with a smooth transition between units. Our units can create the infrastructure for this technology, either via Internet cables connected to the router, wireless via Wi-Fi, or via the household’s electricity cables (Powerline).
